Whilst he may seem the oldest, and in some ways he is, Rollo Stone here is a much more modern geezer. Don’t be fooled by his outfit, it’s an inside joke with his mates, Rollo was a child of the 1940’s he’s a young gun by Bone Idyll gin standards. He’s just a young spirit housed in an old frame, we all know the feeling.

After a tough paper round and woodwork class, Rollo made it through to the swinging sixties in the prime of his life, and every crease, crows foot and crinkle has a story to tell. Get this man fireside with a stiff drink in his hand and maybe he’ll tell you some.

Like how he used to be a pirate; hence the monkey, whose name is Caroline by the way. Alright, not like a “Yarrr”, swashbuckling pirate…But in the early 60’s he was one of the pioneers of UK Pirate Radio, braving the waves out in the North Sea. Providing the now rock and roll royalty with their first taste of airtime, using his smooth dulcet tones to introduce the world to something completely new, sums him up really. Although, being a carpenter by trade, it wasn’t long until the oak came calling again.

Mid 1969 he found himself across the pond at a dairy farm in New York state, building a stage for what he was sure to be a fairly forgettable music and arts fair just outside of a town called Woodstock. But it felt strangely poetic and he’d probably get a story or two out of it so he went for it… He still hasn’t taken the bandana off.

But of course, there’s so much more to this fella than what’s written here, but that would rob the guy of his greatest skill… His storytelling. So next time you see him, invite him for a dram and just drink it all in. He’s pretty interesting.

Oh, and that inside joke? Well, some people think he’s a little ruff round the edges…  (*Badum Tiss*) Trust me, it’s ironic.
